v26-2 Meet Your Docent - Helen Banta

Vol. XXVI No. 2 - SUMMER 2015

Helen was born at Edgewater Hospital a few years ahead of Hillary Clinton and has lived in Edgewater all her life. She loves the cultural and gastronomical diversity as well as the genuine community feel. A few years ago she walked into the Edgewater Historical Society and got hooked on our local museum devoted to the area in which she has spent so much of her life. Helen is a big believer in volunteer work and giving back to her community in whatever manner she can, as well as relishing the opportunity to meet new people, many of whom also grew up in Edgewater. In addition to docenting, Helen is a grief counselor for the Catholic Charities LOSS program and does a radio show at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. In her spare time, she is an avid Scrabble player and theater goer. Brava Helen!
