The origin of this house remains a mystery. It is absent from the 1905 Sanborn Fire Map and it is not found in the 1909 street number conversion table. In addition, the records of the Cook County Recorder of Deeds show that its lot remained in the hands of the Farson family until 1911. Yet, it appears that it was built before 1911.
It is similar to many of the homes on the block, including those built by S.E. Gross and the Kransz Weber Company. The interior of the home has been completely changed, while the exterior elements, like the front porch and stacked bay windows, have been retained. The home is 2-1/2 stories. The original home was covered in narrow board siding and the simple straightforward lines are indicative of early 20th century homes which followed the Victorian Age. The porch is a replacement and is just large enough to sit on to enjoy the evening breezes.
The front door is oak with glass and is original. Inside, the traditional reception area near the staircase has been altered so that the space is open from the front to the rear of the home. The staircase has a new modern metal handrail and new steps of Brazilian Cherry. This wood was used to replace all the floors of the original home.
To the right of the entrance area is a seating area and a new fireplace. This room has the front bay window. The second area has two angled windows and holds a piano. The dining area is towards the back of the house with a window looking out on the back.
The kitchen features an eating peninsula with seating towards the dining area. New cabinets and a new counter with cultured marble have been added. All the appliances are new. Back towards the staircase, there is a powder room, which has also been updated with new fixtures.
The staircase to the basement is under the main staircase. It leads to a recreation room, an exercise room, a full bath with shower and a laundry.
On the second floor, there are three bedrooms and two baths. The room towards the front with the bay window is set up as a multipurpose room. The second room is a bedroom. It has the two angled windows for light and an enlarged closet.
The master bedroom is spacious, with two windows and a door to an open balcony. There is a large closet. The master bathroom is through double doors. It features a Whirlpool tub, double sinks and a step-in shower. Return to the reception area and exit through the front.
