Fourth Annual Edgewater Home Tour

Vol. IV No. 2 - SPRING/SUMMER 1992

The Edgewater Historical Society is pleased to announce East Andersonville as the featured neighborhood for our fourth annual Edgewater Home Tour on Sunday, September 20, 1992. The Swedish American Museum, at 5211 N. Clark, has graciously consented to host the registration table, where our popular EHS trolley T-shirts will also be on sale.

The tour will include at least six homes built around 1900. All structures are within easy walking distance of one another. Participating homeowners will receive a custom drawing of their home, compliments of Presentation Design’s Thom Greene and Rick Proppe.

This will be an excellent opportunity to view some fine, old architecture from the inside as well as the outside. Docents will guide visitors through the houses. The tour booklet will address the history of the area as well as the homes.

Advance reservations can be made by sending a check payable to Edgewater Historical Society. An order blank is enclosed within the newsletter.

Also included within is an order form for advertising space in the house tour booklet. You need not have a business to “advertise”; many friends and neighbors choose to support EHS by simply listing their names and “best wishes.” Proceeds from the home tour help support our various activities, including the reproduction of photographs, purchase of collectibles and printing of our newsletter and tour booklet.

Volunteers to act as tour guides (requires talking) and security guards (requires watchful smiling) are always needed. If interested, please call Kathy Gemperle. The Society always hosts a pre-tour buffet party for volunteers a night or two before the tour date, so that the workers have a chance to visit all the homes themselves. It’s great fun!
