After the Northwestern Elevated Railroad extended operations from Wilson Avenue into Evanston beginning May 16, 1908, the St. Paul drastically cut back service on its Evanston line–only four trains daily and then only between Wilson Avenue and the near north side, stopping short of the downtown Union Station.
