Relive the Golden Age of radio drama with “Those Were the Days Radio Players” - Chicago North chapter. On Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the EHS Museum, the Radio Players will perform two programs:
Fibber McGee and Molly: Fibber meets a Racketeer was originally broadcast on October 28, 1941, with the husband and wife team of Jim Jordan and Marian Driscoll Jordan playing Fibber and Molly. The radio series ran from 1935 until 1956.
The Shadow: The Horror in the Night was originally broadcast April 25, 1954, with Bret Morrison as The Shadow (Lamont Cranston) and Gertrude Warner as Margo Lane. The radio series ran from 1937 until 1954.
The current exhibit at the EHS Museum, Motoring through Edgewater, explores the history of how the automobile transformed the Edgewater neighborhood. The exhibit runs until May 3, 2015, and features photographs, maps and other artifacts from the museum’s collection. Related programs will be offered during the exhibit.
The next meeting of the Chicago History Book Club will be Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Edgewater Branch of the Chicago Public Library. The books to be discussed are “Hospital: An Oral History of Cook County Hospital” by Sydney Lewis (New Press, 1995) and “County: Life, Death and Politics at Chicago’s Public Hospital” by David A. Ansell (Chicago Review Press, 2011).
