The performing arts organization, ArtsNorth, was founded by Virginia Marciniak and operated from 1984 to 1990. Other founding members included Al Walavich, Pat Boddy, Gerry Rizzer, Dan Caliendo, and Mary Ann Barry* The organization would organize events and concerts in the neighborhoods of Edgewater, Rogers Park and Uptown. ArtsNorth operated as a community-based performing arts presenter, coordinating concerts and recitals across a variety of local venues rather than maintaining a single permanent theater. Concert locations included Mundelein College, Truman College, St. Scholastica High School, and various local churches.

ArtsNorth’s original office was at 4753 N. Broadway St., and later relocated to 6219 N. Sheridan Rd.
During ArtsNorth’s brief five-year run, three to four music programs were held in the spring, focusing on classical, chamber, and vocal performances. These concerts often featured local or regional musical groups and musicians such as The Chicago Ensemble and Jack Cecchini.
Following Virginia Marciniak’s death in 1990, ArtsNorth ceased operations after the 1989 season.
