Chicago History Book Group (Past)

The next meeting of the Chicago History Book Club will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Edgewater Branch of the Chicago Public Library. The books to be discussed are “A World of Gangs: Armed Young Men and Gangsta Culture” by John Hagedorn (U of Minnesota Press, 2008), “The Gangs of Chicago: An Informal History of the Chicago Underworld” by Herbert Asbury (Thunder’s Mouth Press, 2002 [first published in 1940]), “The Gang: A Study of 1,313 Gangs in Chicago” by Frederick Thrasher (U of Chicago Press, 1927), and “The Almighty Black P. Stone Nation: The Rise, Fall, and Resurgence of an American Gang” by Natalie Moore and Lance Williams (Chicago Review Press, 2011). Click here for a flyer.
