Immigrants, tell your story

Vol. XXV No. 1 - SPRING 2014

The Edgewater Historical Society is beginning an extensive project to document the experiences of immigrants in Edgewater through their oral histories. Edgewater is on the north side of Chicago, between Foster and Devon, and from Ravenswood to the Lake, and is an area of much diversity. We look forward to collecting and sharing the stories of all who make up this vibrant community.

We are seeking people who were born outside of the United States, who live or have lived in Edgewater, and who are interested in contributing their personal recollections. The interview would take less than an hour and would be videoed in the Edgewater Library or at our museum. We will schedule interviews beginning in January, 2014. We will need your name, address, telephone number, email and country of origin. Those contributing their stories will receive a DVD of their interview to share with their family and friends. Their oral history may be included in a future exhibit and program at our museum and on our website. If you are interested in participating in this project, or if you know someone who might be interested, please contact Betty via the “Contact us” button above.
