Meet your Docent

Vol. XXIV No. 1 - SPRING 2013

Pat McParland, our featured docent, feels Edgewater is a very personal community. “Store owners are friendly, I can buy just about anything I need in the area and there are really unique things available. I also think there is an acceptance and appreciation of people making it a comfortable place to live.” She thinks the Edgewater Historical Society reflects the attitude of the community – it is interested in many avenues like the history of grocery stores, architectural treasurers, home genealogies and the stories of people who live here.

Pat found out about the museum when the Radio Players started performing there. She thinks the museum is a perfect place for many things including performances. As a volunteer Pat gets to meet new people who often have different reasons for visiting, but get excited about finding something in our collections that interests them. To Pat, volunteering means to give something back, as well as work with all the other great volunteers.

In her free time she enjoys delving into architectural history, art classes, walking tours, folk dancing and lots and lots and lots of eating out with friends.
