Edgewater's Docent "U"

Vol. XXIV No. 1 - SPRING 2013

The Edgewater Historical Society is opening a new class for prospective museum docents – the wonderful folks who welcome our museum visitors and tell them about our exhibits and local history.

If you are interested, we invite you to join us Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with our current docents, for a presentation on Edgewater history and museum exhibits and operations.

Refreshments will be served, and you will have a chance to talk to curators and local historians, and to learn what goes into putting on exhibits, and what makes Edgewater’s history so interesting.

We will then schedule new docents for follow up training sessions of a few hours at mutually convenient times. If you would like to be a docent, we would like you to commit to at least one 3-hour session a month. Every docent is always paired with at least one other docent. We currently are open every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and, during summer hours, on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. for our delightful garden concerts. We also welcome docents who volunteer for our very popular September home tour.

If you like local history, if you enjoy people, and good fellowship you may find this is just the volunteer opportunity you are looking for. We really appreciate your interest.

To sign up for this event, please email Dorothy Nygren. We look forward to having you join our team.
