Salute to a "Bud"-ding Star
Congratulations to Austin “Bud” Wyman, Jr., whom the Edgewater Community Council honored with its top award for his years of dedicated community service, on November 15, 1997 at its annual Salute Edgewater awards dinner.
Mr. Wyman was a founding member of the Community Bank of Edgewater in the early 1970s, a time when Edgewater was red-lined, meaning banks were not lending money in the area because it was deemed high risk.
Closer to our hearts, Bud was a Founding Board Member of the Edgewater Historical Society. He served as our “legal eagle” in developing our mission statement, bylaws, application for status as a non-profit corporation in the State of Illinois and the recognition of EHS as a charitable organization by the IRS.
Bud has always had a strong interest in neighborhood history and continues to generously offer his expertise to further our organization’s goals.
